Trademark policy

The short version: the code is open. The name and the logo are not free-for-all.

The short version

Apache 2.0 covers the code, but the name "Lamella" and the logo are trademarks of Lamella LLC. You can fork, modify, redistribute, and run the software freely. You can't use the Lamella name or logo to brand a competing product or hosted service in a way that suggests endorsement.

What's fine

• Forking the repository on GitHub.
• Contributing patches, issues, and discussions.
• Mentioning Lamella in a blog post, a talk, or a tutorial.
• Saying "I use Lamella for my books" in any context.
• Including the Lamella name in a list of tools you use.
• Internal use of the unmodified software at your company.

What needs permission

• Using the Lamella name as part of a hosted service offered to others.
• Using the Lamella logo on commercial materials, packaging, or merchandise.
• Using "Lamella" or the logo in a way that implies endorsement, partnership, or official affiliation.
• Distributing modified builds under the Lamella name.

If you run a fork or a hosted deployment, we'd appreciate an attribution. A small line in your footer or about page is enough. Here's a copy-pasteable snippet:
